Saturday night was a tiny bit better for the eight New York Rangers prospects who saw action. By tiny bit there were three fewer losses because there were three overtime ties but there was still only one prospect who could say he (a) won and (b) had a good game.
Two sets of prospects faced off against each other and the way college hockey works a game that goes to the shootout is listed as a tie in the overall standings. If your team wins the shootout then they earn an extra point in their conference standings.
If you are a bit confused that is all right as it is confusing as the NCAA should go to a uniform way of determining the standings for all the hockey conferences.
First Star of the game Raoul Boilard is the hottest Rangers prospect now as the 2024 fourth-round pick of the Rangers was 1-1-2 to lead his Baie-Comeau Drakkar to a 4-2 win over the Drummondville Voltigeurs in QMJHL play. The game’s first star, Boilard, got his team on the scoreboard when he tied the game up at 1-1 with a power play goal in the second period.
Boilard found a rebound right in front of the Voltigeurs goal and shoved it into the goal for his fifth goal of the season and fourth power play goal at 9:50. 46 seconds after the goal, Boilard would start the play that put his team up 2-1 with a secondary assist at 10:36.
The 1-1-2 was part of a two-shot, +1 with a high sticking minor and a 12-9 faceoff performance. Boilard improved to a prospect leading 5-14-19 season totals that go along with the four power play goals, two game-winners, a -3, 10 PIMS and a 56.4% faceoff win rate.
Boilard is also on a four-game scoring streak (3-2-5) as his team improves to 15-6-1-0 in QMJHL play. Now the QMJHL has a licensing setup which makes showing highlights of Boilard’s play hard but the following is a highlight package of his entire game last April. Warning it is over 16 minutes but it is worth watching to get an idea of his play.

Good Bye To Twitter
If you copy the links to this place from twitter may I suggest that you bookmark this site if you want to keep reading this place. Twitter is no longer a decent place to be a part of so the Prospect Park has signed up for Bluesky. It is a much nicer place with really good chats and a much larger than expected bunch of great Ranger fans.
