Another quiet night as the New York Ranger prospects slowly return from their holiday break. Just six prospects saw action due to injury and traveling so we did not see much in terms of production.

Center Dylan Roobroeck was 1-1-2 as his Oshawa Generals just blasted the Flint Firebirds 10-2 in OHL play. Roobroeck scored the General’s eight goal after setting up the seventh goal as the Generals blew the game open with a five goal outburst in the second period.

In the second period with his team already up 6-1, Roobroeck earned the primary assist on linemate Connor Lockhart’s 17th goal at 14:25. Then in the third period with the Generals up 7-2, Roobroeck scored an even-strength goal at 15:45 to give his team a six goal lead.

For Roobroeck, it was part of a 1-1-2 on three shots with a +1 and an 8-9 faceoff mark. The points improved Roobroeck to 11-20-31 which made Roobroeck your prospect scoring leader in goals and points.

Victor Mancini was scoreless as his Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks lost a heartbreaker in the finals of the Dessert Hockey Classic Championship to 13th-ranked Arizona State 2-1 in overtime. Mancini was credited with four shots in the loss but is improving himself as a potential pro prospect for the Rangers.

Zakary Karpa was scoreless as his Harvard Crimson lost in the consolation game of the Dessert Hockey Classic Championship 7-4 to UMass-Lowell. Karpa was credited with just one shot with a roughing minor and was 14-10 on his faceoffs.

Maxim Barbashev was scoreless as his Rimouski Oceanic dropped a 5-4 decision to the Baie-Comeau
Drakkar in QMJHL play. Barbashev was credited with one hit, no shots and a +2 for the game.

Rasmus Lawsson was credited with an assist as his Green Bay Gamblers edged the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders 3-2 in USHL play. Lawsson earned his assist on Green Bay’s first goal of the game as he was credited with three shots and a +2.

Lawsson improved his season totals to 1-8-9 on the season.

Ty Henricks was scoreless as his Muskegon Lumberjacks earned a 6-3 win over the Dubuque Fighting Saints in USHL action. Henricks was credited with one shot with a +2 and a tripping minor.

Did Not Play

Drew Fortescue and Gabe Perreault sat out Boston College’s exhibition game against Simon Fraser as they were returning from Sweden.

Bryce McConnel-Barker missed his ninth game due being in concussion protocol as he is coming up on one full month out. It is a shame as McConnell-Barker had finally found his game until he became the victim of a cheap shot back on December 10th.
