Perreault Returns With Two Assist Night

Gabe Perreault (Boston College

Friday night saw ten New York Rangers prospects in action led by Gabe Perreault who was originally credited with three assists but a post-game review cut it back to two helpers. Perreault and his top-ranked Boston College Eagles made their post-Holiday break return a dominant one with a 7-1 defeat of ninth-ranked Providence College in Hockey East play.

Perreault had the primary assist on linemate Ryan Leonard’s 11th goal which was the Eagle’s fourth goal (the video may or may not work) and pretty much put the game away at 4-0.

In the third period, Perreault earned his second assist on the Eagles seventh goal, a secondary assist that made the final score 7-1. Perreault regained his status as Boston College’s leading scorer with a 0-2-2 three shot +3 night that improved his season totals to 5-22-27 which is also good for ninth best in the NCAAs.

Teammate Drew Fortescue had a very quiet night not registering any kind of stats. The same two teams will face off tomorrow night.

Brody Lamb (Minnesota Golden Gophers)

Brody Lamb had a goal as his 11th-ranked Minnesota Golden Gophers defeated Robert Morris 4-3 in non-conference play. Lamb scored Minnesota’s second goal of the game, a power play goal that came off a shot that hit the RM goalie, then hit off the cross bar and then off a RM defenseman before falling into the net.

It looks much better on the video than it was described.

For Lamb, it was his ninth goal of the season and his second power play goal of the season as part of a 1-0-1 two shot with a -1 night. The goal improves Lamb’s season totals to a career best 9-7-16.

Dylan Roobroeck (Oshawa Generals)

Dylan Roobroeck had an assist as his Oshawa Generals defeated the Kingston Frontenacs 3-1 in OHL play. Roobroeck had the only assist on his team’s first goal, an even strength goal at 1:36 of the first period.

Roobroeck was 0-1-1 on two shots with a +2, a “check to the head” minor and was 12-6 on his faceoffs. He is the current scoring leader among Rangers prospects with 11-23-34.

Maxim Barbashev had a primary assist as his Rimouski Oceanic held off the Charlottetown Islanders 6-5 in QMJHL play. Barbashev’s assist came on his Oceanics’ fourth goal, an even strength goal at 12:59 of the second period.

Barbashev was 0-1-1 on four shots with a +2 and was credited with two hits. The assist improved Barbashev’s season totals to 8-13-21 in 33 games this season.

Victor Mancini was scoreless as his Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks upset fourth-ranked North Dakota 5-4 in overtime in NCHC play. Mancini was credited with three shots but was a -2 for the night.

Noah Laba was scoreless as his 20th-ranked Colorado College Tigers lost 3-2 to Minnesota-Duluth in NCHC action. Laba was credited with two shots with a +1 and was 12-5 on his faceoffs.

Hank Kempf was scoreless as his 17th-ranked Cornell Big Red defeated 12th-ranked Arizona State 3-2 in overtime in non-conference play. Kempf did not record a shot and was a -2 in the contest.

Ty Henricks was scoreless as his Muskegon Lumberjacks defeated the Fargo Force 7-3 in USHL action. Henricks did not record a single stat in this game.

Zakary Karpa was scoreless on two shots as his Harvard Crimson lost to 5-3 in ECAC play. The loss dropped Harvard to 1-10-3 as they have lost nine straight games and have not won since November 11th.

Did Not Play

Bryce McConnell-Barker missed his tenth game since entering into concussion protocol. Ironically tonight the player who injured him Sawyer Boulton of the London Knights played his first game after finishing off his 10-game suspension.

Hugo Ollas did not play in his Merrimack College’s game against UMass. Ollas last played on December 8th as he has missed the last four games for his team.

Jaroslav Chmelar missed his Providence College’s game against Boston College as he recovers from wrist surgery. He is not expected back until late February or early March.

Rasmus Lawsson and his Green Bay Gamblers were postponed for the second time this week due to the bad weather. No makeup date has been announced.
