There were only eight New York Ranger prospects in action on Saturday night in part because Gabe Perreault and Drew Fortescue are playing against Maine on Sunday afternoon (ESPN+ 1 PM EDT/10 AM PDT).
Brody Lamb had a goal as his third-ranked Minnesota Golden Gophers (9-1 Big Ten 3-0-1-0) needed overtime before edging Wisconsin 3-2 in Big Ten play. Lamb opened the scoring for the Gophers when he scored on the power play at 7:42 of the second period.
Lamb was set up in the slot and he picked up a rebound and backed handed it in for the goal.

Lamb going 1-0-1 on one shot with a -1 and a “contact to the head” minor. The goal improved his season totals to 6-5-11 with five of the goals coming on the power play.
Raoul Boilard earned the game’s second star with the game-winning goal as his Baie-Comeau Drakkar (13-5-1-0) defeated the Halifax Mooseheads 2-1 in QMJHL play. In the third period with the game tied at 1 and the Drakkar on the power play, Boilard got a pass at the Moosehead goal line then skated out to the right faceoff circle where he threw a shot at the Moosehead net that fooled their goalie.
Sorry no video but if you wish to see this goal then head here and the scoring play starts at 2:49 of the clip. It was Boilard’s third goal of the season, second game-winning goal, and second power play goal. It was on the only shot that Boilard would take in this game which begs the question why isn’t a player who scored 22 goals last season not looking to score more often?
Boilard was 10-6 on his faceoffs as well as he is 3-12-15 on the season which makes him the current leading scorer among Ranger prospects
E.J. Emery was scoreless as his tenth-ranked North Dakota Fighting Hawks (5-4 NCHC 2-0) defeated Minnesota-Duluth 4-1 in NCHC play. Emery was a +1 with a hooking minor and two blocked shots giving hin 13 on the season.
Emery has been the left side third pair defense, and he has shown that he is an above average defender.
Nathan Aspinall had a primary assist, but his Flint Firebirds (7-9-0-1) were spanked 6-2 by the Soo Greyhounds in OHL play. Aspinall earned his assist on the Firebirds first goal of the game, a power play goal which cut the Greyhounds lead to 4-1 in the first period.
Aspinall broke a four-game point-less streak to improve to 7-6-13 on the season.
Hank Kempf was scoreless as his sixth-ranked Cornell Big Red (3-0-1 ECAC 1-0-0-1) defeated Brown 3-1 in ECAC play. Kempf was credited with two shots on goal.
Zakary Karpa was scoreless as his Harvard Crimson (2-1 ECAC 1-1) upset 15th-ranked Quinnipiac 3-0 in ECAC play. Karpa was credited with three shots and was 8-11 on faceoffs as the third line center.
Ty Henricks was scoreless as his 13th-ranked Western Michigan Broncos (5-1 NCHC 2-0) defeated Nebraska-Omaha 4-2 in NCHC action. Henricks only appearance on the scoresheet comes thanks to winning the only faceoff he took.
Rasmus Larsson was scoreless as his Northern Michigan Wildcats (1-9 CCHA 0-4) lost to Lake Superior State 5-1 in CCHA play. It was the seventh straight loss for the Wildcats as Larsson was credited with two blocked shots.
Rico Gredig
The Rangers 2024 sixth-round pick is playing for HC Davos in the Swiss Nation League. Got sent this clip of a goal Gredig recently scored for his team. Gredig wears #6 in blue.
Did Not Play
Noah Laba missed his fifth game of the season as his Colorado College Tigers remained undefeated (8-0 NCHC 2-0) after defeating Arizona State 3-1 in NCHC play. Laba is listed as “day-to-day” with what is believed to be a bad ankle.
