Friday night was a night of frustration for the 11 New York Ranger prospects who took to the ice as once again there was mixed results but little offense to show from the prospects. Just four total points (2-2-4) was the entire offensive output from the Rangers prospects, a number that can not and should not be deemed as acceptable.
Come Monday, it might be a surprise if the Boston College Screaming Eagles remain at the top of the NCAA poll, for the first time since Feb 24th-25th 2023, the Eagles have lost back to back games. Friday night it was 3-2 to UMass in Hockey East action.
Gabe Perreault was the lone bright spot for the Rangers prospects as he was 1-1-2 for the night but it wasn’t enough to prevent the loss. With Boston College already trailing 1-0 and on a power play, Perreault recorded his 12th goal of the season when he took a feed from linemate Teddy Stiga and fired the puck into a wide open net to tie up the game at 1-1.

Perreault fired the puck while almost even with the goal line and somehow got it in. Just great hands from the sophomore forward.
In the third with BC trailing 3-1 in the final minute of regulation and with their goalie pulled for the extra attacker, Perreault fed linemate Ryan Leonard for a goal to cut the lead to 3-2 and that was as close as Boston College would get.
For Perreault his 1-1-2 evening came on a six shot, -1 effort as Perreault also took a hooking minor as well. At 12-26-38, Perreault leads both his team and the Ranger prospects in scoring.
On a national level, Perreault fell back one to seventh in scoring and is tied for second in assists. Teammate Drew Fortescue was -1 with no shots.
Rauol Boilard broke a seven-scoring streak with his 10th goal of the season as his Baie-Comeau Drakkar defeated the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies 2-1 in QMJHL play. In the second period with his team trailing 1-0, Boilard took a pass and carried the puck towards the Huskies net where he fired a shot over the goalie’s shoulder into the net.
Boilard’s 10th goal was an even-strength goal as part of a three-shot night while going 2-2 on faceoffs with one hit. His season totals are 10-24-34 and he is going to need a huge hot streak to come even close to his totals of last season 22-40-62.
Zakary Karpa had an assist as his Harward Crimson defeated the St. Lawrence Saints 6-2 in ECAC play. Karpa had a secondary assist on Harvard’s third goal which proved to be the game winner.
Karpa improved to 0-5-5 on the season as he was credited with one shot and went 11-7 on his faceoffs.
Ty Henricks was scoreless as his fourth-ranked Western Michigan Broncos remained on top of the NCHC conference after a 5-4 overtime win over Nebraska-Omaha. Henricks was credited with one shot and a +1 for the contest.
Noah Laba was scoreless as his Colorado College Tigers had little trouble with Miami (Ohio) winning 6-1 in NCHC play. Laba was credited with going 4-3 on faceoffs for his only stat of the night.
Nathan Aspinall was scoreless as his Flint Firebirds lost to the Sudbury Wolves 3-2 in OHL play. Aspinall was credited with two shots and a -1 as he has now gone six games without a goal.
Jackson Dorrington was scoreless as his Northeastern Huskies shutout UMass-Lowell 2-0 in Hockey East play. Dorrington was credited with two shots for the game.
Hank Kempf was scoreless as his Cornell Big Red defeated Brown 6-1 in ECAC play. Kempf did not take a shot but was a +2
E. K. Emery was scoreless as his 17th-ranked North Dakota Fighting Hawks were shut out by sixth-ranked Denver 4-0 in NCHC play. Emery has gone 27 straight games without a point.
Brody Lamb was scoreless as third-ranked Minnesota fell in overtime 3-2 to second-ranked Michigan in Big Ten play. Lamb has gone 10 straight games without a goal and has played his way out of an NHL contract with one last season of college eligibility remaining.
