Bouilard Goal Not Enough for Drakkar in Loss

Raoul Boilard (Baie-Comeau Drakker)
There were four New York Ranger prospects scheduled for Sunday action but a late scratch took one of the lineup. Still the current leading scoring among the Rangers prospects added to his season totals even though his team lost.

Rauol Bouilard until Saturday had gone without a goal for eight games after scoring 22 last season. On Sunday, he made it back-to-back games with a goal even though his Baie-Comeau Drakkar (13-6-1-0) lost to the Moncton Wildcats 2-1 in QMJHL play.

Boilard’s power play goal was the only offense from the Drakkar as they dropped the back end of a two-game series with the Mooseheads. The goal came at 14:57 of the first period when Boilard skated down from the right point and fired a shot from the right faceoff circle that went through two Moosehead defenders and beat the goalie on the blocker side.

Sorry the QMJHL doesn’t do video clips like the rest of the hockey media but you can view the goal here on the scoresheet starting at the 21 second mark. For Boilard, the goal was his fourth of the season and his third power play goal of the season as he improves to a prospect leading 4-12-16.

Boilard was 6-6 on his faceoffs as he is now has a 54.5% win rate on the season.

Gabe Perreault (Brody Hannon)
Gabe Perreault had the only assist on the only goal his second-ranked Boston College Eagles would need as they shut out five-ranked Maine 3-0 to earn the weekend sweep.  Perreault hit Ryan Leonard along the right side board at center ice and Leonard would do the rest as Boston College had a tougher time winning this game than the score indicates.

What makes Perreault so special with his passing is how he can put the puck right on the stick of a teammate from any spot on the ice. This is worth looking at as Perreault was deep in his defensive zone when he fired off this pass.

Perreault was more than offense as his play on the defensive side gets overlooked because of what he does on offense. But Perreault can read the defensive zone and anticipate plays before they happen.

Boston College uses Perreault on their penalty kill units and he is out there in the closing minutes of a close game when Boston College is trying to protect a lead. Perreault was 0-1-1 on two shots with a +1 as he improves to 5-8-13 +7 averaging 1.63 points per game.

Teammate Drew Fortescue did not record any stats in this game.
