Kempf’s goal came at 15:10 of the first period, an even strength goal was the result of a nice play from teammates. Cornell was on the attack and Kempf pinched in from the point where he was hit with a pass at the left faceoff circle and he fired a shot that beat the Arizona State goalie.

For Kempf it was his first of the season and just his second career goal in 78 games with Cornell. It was part of a rare offensive outburst from the junior defenseman who finished the game 1-0-1 on two shots with a +3.
