The NCAA playoff picture became a little clearer for the New York Rangers prospects playing in the NCAA. The rest of the NCAA regular season is over and now we begin to see which teams will make it to the NCAA tournament.
Big Ten Playoffs
Brody Lamb was scoreless as his third ranked Minnesota Golden Gophers defeated Notre Dame in game two of their Big Ten tournament series 4-2. This sets up the deciding game three on Sunday with the winner advancing to the league semifinals next week.
Lamb playing on the third line as its right wing did not record a shot for the second game in a row. Maybe they need to send Lamb back to their fourth line to get some offense from him on Sunday.
Rest of the Prospects
Gabe Perreault and Drew Fortescue saw their top ranked Boston College Eagles finish their regular season with a 6-0 shutout of Merrimack in Hockey East play. Fortescue was scoreless while Perreault scored twice in the win.
With his team already up 2-0 in the second period, Perreault scored his 14th goal of the season on an even strength goal as he carried the puck into the offensive zone and fired a shot that beat the Merrimack goalie.

Goal scoring was not a strength for Perreault last season but it is becoming one in the later stages of this season. In the third with his team on the power play, Perreault made it a 3-0 game when he fired a shot from inside the right faceoff circle that just like his first goal beat the Merrimack goalie.

Second straight game with a power play goal as typically it has been Perreault setting up the power play goals. This one was his 15th goal of the season as Perreault is walking away with the Rangers prospect scoring title this year with a 15-31-46 line.
The two goals helped Perreault move back into a tie for the Boston College scoring lead, he is in a five way tie for fifth nationally overall and remains in second for assists.
This one a night where Perreault was 2-0-2 on three shots and a +2. Teammate Drew Fortescue was scoreless with on one shot with a +2.
Boston College now gets to wait and see who their face in the Hockey East quarterfinals as they won the regular season championship. They earn not only a bye into the quarterfinals but the first overall seed in the league playoffs. They have become the favorite to earn the first overall seed into the NCAA tournament
While it may have been a meaningless game to fourth-ranked Western Michigan, Ty Henricks scored his fourth goal in his last three games to help his team defeat Miami (Ohio) 5-2 to finish off their NCHC regular season.
Henricks seventh goal of the season at 19:31 of the second period put Western Michigan up 4-1. Henricks at one point this season had gone 18 games without a goal, has gotten goals in three straight games.
On the play, Henricks was given the puck just before entering the offensive zone where he carried the puck right to the next and used his backhand to score the goal. It was a pure power move by the 6’5 forward.

Henricks is now 7-5-12 as Western Michigan will host St. Cloud State next Friday in a best of three first round NCHC playoff series.
Raoul Boilard had a two-assist game as his Baie-Comeau Drakkar defeated the Cape Breton Eagles 7-4 in QMJHL play. Boilard earned a secondary assist on the Drakkar’s second goal of the game which at the time tied the game at 2-2.
In the second period and the Drakkar on the power play, Boilard earned the primary assist on what proved to be the game-winning goal putting his team up 5-2. Boilard just sent the put to the top of the point where teammate Alexis Michaud fired a shot that went in.
It was part of a 0-2-2 one shot with a 10-8 faceoff stat line as Boilard improved to 12-30-42 for the season. Boilard got to watch his older brother teammate Jules get ejected for the following: five for fighting, five for high sticking, two for high sticking, a match penalty for high sticking, and a game misconduct for instigating a fight.
Jules can expect the QMJHL league offices to be giving him a call as he is staring down a suspension.
Jackson Dorrington was scoreless as his Northeastern Huskies finished their Hockey East regular season with a 3-2 loss to sixth-ranked Providence College. Dorrington was credited with one shot and a -2 for the game.
Northeastern finished the Hockey East season in ninth place and will face Merrimack in a one game playoff this upcoming Wednesday. It is expected that once Northeastern is eliminated from the Hockey East tournament that Dorrington will leave school and sign an entry level contract with the Rangers.
IF the NCAA Tournament was selected today
1- Boston College- headed to Manchester New Hampshire as first overall seed
3- Minnesota – headed to Fargo North Dakota as first seed in regional and third overall seed
5- Western Michigan- headed to Allentown PA as the second seed and fifth overall seed.
No other team with prospects has earned an automatic at-large big. North Dakota (NCHC) is as close to being a bubble team sitting at 19 but they would need to win their conference tournament to earn an invite to the NCAA tournament.
Did Not Play
Nathan Aspinall of the Flint Firebirds missed his second straight game with what is being called an illness.
E. J. Emery missed his fourth straight game due to a lower body injury. His status for the NCHC Frozen Faceoff tournament is unknown.
Season is over
Defenseman Rasmus Larsson’s freshman season at Northern Michigan is over as Northern Michigan failed to qualify for the CCHA tournament. Larsson was also hurt so he most likely would have missed the tournament.
Larsson finished the season 3-0-3 in 29 games. He was a -9 with 14 PIMs.
