Boilard Earns Star in Losing Effort

Raoul Boilard (Baie-Comeau Drakkar)

We are about one week away from the annual mid-season holiday break and things are interesting to say the least. The scoring funk for the New York Rangers prospect continues as ten prospects combined for a 2-3-5 evening and man that is unacceptable if you are wanting that NHL Entry Level contract.

If you are a regular here at Prospect Park, then you know that all the offense is coming from four prospects: Raoul Boilard (6-17-23), Gabe Perreault (7-15-22), Brody Lamb (10-7-17), and Nathan Aspinall (7-10-17). That is four prospects out of 11 in North America which makes it even harder when you are trying to restock the roster with talented players.

Raoul Boilard earned the third star for his Baie-Comeau Drakkar (16-10-1-1) dropped a 6-4 decision to the Quebec Remparts in QMJHL play. Boilard was 1-1-2 as his Drakkar let leads of 3-0 and 4-2 disappear to the Remparts.

Boilard recorded his sixth goal of the season with an even strength goal that put his team up 3-0 in the first period. It was his first goal in the last five games.

In the second period with the Drakkar up 3-2, Boilard earned the primary assist on Samuel Boisvert’s first goal in the QMJHL. This even strength goal put the Drakkar up 4-2 and that was the end of the highlights for the Drakkar as the Remparts scored four unanswered goal to earn the 6-4 win.

Boilard was 1-1-2 on four shots but was a -2 and he was 11-8 on his faceoffs. The current leader in points and assists among the Rangers prospects at 6-17-23.

Ty Henricks (Western Michigan)

Ty Henricks may not be scoring from the fourth line but his seventh-ranked Western Michigan Broncos (10-2-1 NCHC 1st 5-0-1-1) are still winning. THe Broncos defeated second-ranked University of Denver 3-2 in NCHC play.

Henricks did not register any kind of stats for this one as he was the fourth-line left wing.

E. J. Emery was scoreless as his 17th-ranked North Dakota Fighting Hawks (8-7-1 NCHC 6th 3-2) rallied with three goals in the third period to defeat Miami 5-4 in NCHC play. Emery was credited with four shots and a -1.

Brody Lamb was scoreless as his fourth-ranked Minnesota Golden Gophers (14-2-1 Big10 1st 6-0-1-0) defeated sixth-ranked Michigan 6-0 in Big Ten play. Lamb was credited with just two shots as he was back as the third line right wing.

Lamb by being able to play both wings is going to earn himself that Rangers contract after all.

Hank Kempf picked up another assist as his 12th-ranked Cornell Big Red (5-2-3 ECAC 5th 2-2-2-1) defeated league leaders Colgate in ECAC play 3-2. Kempf earned a secondary assist on Cornell’s first goal of the game coming with 46 seconds left in the second period.

Kempf doesn’t have any goals this season but he does now have four assists. THe defender also had two blocked shots for the game as well.

Gabe Perreault (Brody Hannon)

Gabe Perreault had his seventh goal of the season but it did not prevent his third ranked Boston College Eagles (11-3-1 Hockey East 4th 3-2-2-1) from playing to a 3-3 overtime tie with 13th-ranked UMass-Lowell in Hockey East play.

Perreault also scored on his shootout attempt but UMass-Lowell won the round 2-1 to earn the extra point in the standings. Drew Fortescue did play and was scoreless on three shots with a minor in overtime for tripping and two blocked shots.

Perreault who improved to 7-15-22 was 1-0-1 on three shots with a -2.

Noah Laba had one assist as his eighth-ranked Colorado College Tigers (9-3-1) dropped a non-conference game to 10th-ranked Providence 4-3. Laba just is not looking like he is at 100% with just the one assist on two shots and he was 8-9.

The junior center is 1-9-10 which is good for second but he looks nothing like the prospect from last year. Hopefully the Holiday break will give him time to full heal.

Rasmus Larsson was scoreless as his Northern Michigan Wildcats (1-13-1-1 CCHA 9th 0-8-1-1) lost to Ferris State 3-1 in CCHA play. The winless streak is now at 12 (0-11-1) as Larsson was credited with one shot.

Zakary Karpa was scoreless as his Harvard Crimson (3-5-1 ECAC 10th 1-3-1-1) dropped a 4-3 ECAC conference game to Clarkson. Karpa scoreless on one shot with a -1 and 11-11 on faceoffs.
