Whatever it was that lit a fire under Oshawa General’s center Dylan Roobroeck please market it as the 2023 sixth round pick of the Rangers has been super hot. The current OHL player of the week winner, carried it over with second four point performance in a week (2-2-4) after never recording one in three OHL seasons.
Roobroeck and his Generals won their ninth straight game 8-5 over the Sudbury Wolves in OHL play. The win gives the Generals a three point lead for the top spot in the OHL’s Eastern Conference and a five-point lead in the East Division with just three regular season games remaining.
The game’s second start, Roobroeck got his night going with a secondary assist on the Generals second goal coming in the first period. It was an even strength goal at 14:47 of the period.
Roobroeck then recorded his 23rd goal of the season with his team on the power play in the last minute of the first period. Roobroeck made it look easy as he set up in the middle of the high slot, took a pass and simply fired it past the Sudbury goalie. The goal also extended Roobroeck’s goal scoring streak to seven games and his point scoring streak to eight.
Do yourself a favour and simply do not get in Dylan Roobroeck’s way.

A beauty of a goal but the 6’7 center was not done. In the second period, Roobroeck earned his second goal of the game this time at even strength when Roobroeck fires his own rebound past the Sudbury goalie for Oshawa’s fifth goal of the game. This one was crazy as Sudbury had missed scoring and the puck carried all the away into the Sudbury end where Roobroeck simply picked up the puck and took it to the Sudbury goal.
Did someone say 17 points in 8 games 🤭

For his final point of the night, Roobroeck in the third period got the primary assist on the Generals seventh goal of the game, this one was on the power play and the Generals went on for the 8-5 win.
Noah Laba and his 10th-ranked Colorado College Tigers faced off against 13th-ranked Victor Mancini and his Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks were facing off in the first round of the NCHC playoffs. This one was going to be a very tough matchup as Omaha was coming in as one of the hottest teams in the NCAAs while Colorado College was enjoying a 20 win season for the first time in over a decade.
A scoreless first period gave way to Omaha scoring twice in a span of 21 seconds to grab a 2-0 lead. The Mavericks made it 3-0 and it looked as if the Tigers were going to suffer a huge loss on home ice.
Colorado College broke through with a power play goal to make it a 3-1 game going into the third period. In the third, Colorado College just dominated at both ends of the ice outshooting Omaha 19-1 as they scored to get within one goal then with the extra attacker it was Noah Laba who came through for the game tying goal to force overtime.

Laba’s 20th goal of the season was just another in the clutch goals that he has scored all season ties the score with 50 seconds remaining in regulation. Colorado College was just a dominate in overtime with a 12-1 edge in shots before they scored to earn a 4-3 game one win and a 1-0 series lead.
Laba for the game only took the one shot on goal while going 13-8 on his faceoffs. For Omaha, Victor Mancini did not record a stat as the same two teams face off in game two on Saturday night.
Bryce McConnell-Barker had a goal but it wasn’t enough to prevent his Soo Greyhounds from dropping a 6-3 decision in OHL action. The loss ended the Greyhounds nine game unbeaten streak (7-0-1–1) and pretty much clinched the West Division title for the Saginaw Spirit.
McConnell-Barker recorded his 20th goal of the season on the Greyhound’s third goal of the game. It was a pretty goal as McConnell-Barker tied up a Knight’s defenseman at the blueline then crossed over and took the puck to the net.
🚨Hounds Goal🚨

It was part of a five shot night for McConnell-Barker as he improves to 20-28-48 on the season. It makes you wonder what might have been had McConnell-Barker not been injured and missed 14 games due to injury.
Hank Kempf was scoreless as his 15th-ranked Cornell Big Red jumped out to a 4-0 lead and held on for a 4-3 win over Zakary Karpa’s Harvard Crimson in game one of their ECAC quarterfinal series on Friday. Cornell takes a 1-0 series lead into Saturday’s elimination game as neither prospect recorded a point in this one with Karpa credited with one shot and Kempf none.
Maxim Barbashev had a primary assist in his Rimouski Oceanic’s 6-3 win over the Sherbrooke Phoenix in QMJHL play. It was a badly need win for the Oceanic who are tied with the Chicoutimi Saguenéens in the Western Conference Standings (but the Saguenéens hold the tiebreaker) with just three games left in the QMJHL regular season.
Barbashev set up Rimouski’s fifth goal in the third period which put away the win. Barbashev was not credited with any shots but was hit with a double minor for roughing and was credited with 2 hits.
His assist was his 20th of the season and gives him a 14-20-34 line for the season.
Ty Henricks and his Muskegon Lumberjacks were shut out 5-0 by the Dubuque Fighting Saints in USHL play. Henricks was credited with one shot as the Lumberjacks dropped their second straight game.
Did Not Play
Rasmus Larsson missed his Green Bay Gamblers game against the Des Moines Buccaneers and reason was given for absence. Green Bay won and moved into second place in the USHL’s Eastern Conference.
