Roobroeck’s Three Assists Beat Bulldogs

Just a short report with four New York Ranger prospects in action on Sunday but only one produced any offense. Very disappointing to see such a lack of production from prospects who either are known to be offensive weapons or are coming off career years.

It was a very nasty game between Dylan Roobroeck and his Oshawa Generals as they spanked the Brantford Bulldogs and pretty suffer both teams will be needing to open the checkbook when the OHL: commissioner is down with them. The game was a huge mismatch as Roobroeck and the Generals scored the game’s first seven goals before cruising to a 8-3 win.

A total of seven misconducts were handed out (five to Brantford) and 17 minor penalties were called (Oshawa had eight separate power plays) as this game got out of hand early and often. Stick tap to Roobroeck who was only called for one minor as he was named the game’s third star after he had a three assist performance.

The Oshawa center is doing his part to earn himself a Rangers entry level contract by showing and keeping his composure and staying on the ice and not in the penalty box. It also doesn’t hurt that Roobroeck is the current leading scorer (14-31-45) among the Rangers prospects and after today’s performance has more assists than Gabe Perreault (31 to 29).

Roobroeck got on the scoresheet for the first time when he set up Matthew Barkley for Oshawa’s fourth goal of the game just 49 seconds into the second period, This would prove to be the game-winning goal for the Generals.

Six and a half minutes later at 7:19, Roobroeck would repeat himself when he had the primary assist on Barkley’s second goal of the game making it a 5-0 game. The big man earned his third point of the night with a secondary assist on the General’s eighth goal, a power play marker at 13:13 of the period.

Roobroeck finished 0-3-3 on one shot with a +1, a tripping minor and he was 11-8 on his faceoffs.

Maxim Barbashev was scoreless with three hits as his Rimouski Oceanic were doubled up 8-4 by the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada in QMJHL play. Barbashev has just one goal in his last 16 games.

After scoring 32 last year, he has just nine this season.

Ty Henricks was scoreless and a -1 as his Muskegon Lumberjacks rallied with three goals in the third period to defeat the Madison Capitols 5-4 in USHL play.  Henricks has just one goal in his last 12 games.

Rasmus Lawsson was scoreless and a -2 as his Green Bay Gamblers lost in overtime to the Chicago Steel in USHL action. Lawsson has one goal for the entire season and he scored his in his second game and none since.
