Roobroeck Remains Hot but Can’t Save Generals

Dylan Roobroeck (Oshawa Generals)

A rare Sunday that saw seven New York Rangers prospects in action were led for the second day in a row by Dylan Roobroeck of the Oshawa Generals with yet another 1-1-2 performance.

It was the annual “Teddy Bear Toss” in Oshawa as Roobroeck and his Generals took on the Sudbury Wolves. The Generals have been struggling as of late and Sunday was no different as they dropped a 7-5 decision to the Wolves in OHL play to extend their winless streak to five games (0-2-2-1) and remain in last place of the OHL’s East Division.

Roobroeck has been a bright spot for the Generals as of late as he extended his scoring streak to six games and recorded a goal in his third straight. Both of Roobroeck’s points came in the third period as the Generals at one point were down 5-2 in the third period before mounting a comeback.

Roobroeck earned a secondary assist on the Generals third goal of the game as they scored on the power play to make it a 5-3 game at 14:28. The 6’7 center would add a power play goal of his own to cut the Sudbury lead to 6-5 at the 18:38 mark.

Jumping on to the ice as the extra attacker, Roobroeck fired a snapshot past the Sudbury goalie for the goal.

Roobroeck’s sixth goal of the season came on his only shot of the game. He also was a -4 with an unsportsmanlike conduct minor and was 7-11 on his faceoffs.

With the two points, Roobroeck improved to 6-13-19 on the season with a three-game goal scoring streak and a six-game scoring streak (3-5-8).

Zakary Karpa returned from missing one game scoring his first goal of the season, but it was not enough to prevent his Harvard Crimson from dropping a 4-1 decision to Gabe Perreault and Drew Fortescue‘s top-ranked Boston College Eagles in non-conference play. For Karpa it was his first point of the season as he had been off to a slow start.

Karpa got Harvard on the board when he deflected a shot past the Boston College goalie.

Karpa was also a very nice 17-6 on his faceoffs but Boston College had too much of everything in this matchup. For the Rangers duo in the Boston College lineup, Gabe Perreault was held scoreless for the first time in eleven games (3-17-20) as the Crimson held him to just one shot for the game.

Fortescue was also scoreless as he too was held to just one shot.

Right Wing Brody Lamb had an assist as his eighth-ranked Minnesota Golden Gophers needed overtime to defeat seventh-ranked Michigan State 6-5 in overtime in Big Ten action. Lamb earned his assist on Minnesota’s second goal of the game which tied the score at 2-2.

For Lamb, the assist improved his season totals to 6-5-11.

Center Bryce McConnell-Barker saw his eleven-game scoring streak (4-9-13) end as his Soo Greyhounds defeated the Mississauga Steelheads 5-2 in OHL play. McConnell-Barker was credited with four shots and was 10-8 on his faceoffs.

Right Wing Jaroslav Chmelar was held scoreless as his ninth-ranked Providence Friars edged the Arizona State Sun Devils 2-1 in non-conference play. Other than a roughing minor, Chmelar did not record a shot on goal in this one.

Right Wing Maxim Barbashev was scoreless on two shots as his Rimouski Oceanic dropped a 5-1 decision to the Chicoutimi Saguenéens in QMJHL play.
